Grandmas Legian Hotel Review

Grandmas Hotel Legian Twin Room

Grandmas Hotel Legian Twin Room

I arrived into the Legian area of Bali without a hotel booked at 11:30 PM. To make matters worst it was also a holiday, the beginning of Eid al-Fitr which marks the end of Ramadan. I kind of knew the area and walked around about 30 minutes without find any decent hotel rooms. I finally realized that I could use my phone to look for hotel rooms on the internet. I fired up Agoda.com and found hotels close by. I saw the Grandmas Hotel being offered for about 200,000 Rp/night. It was a special price because the hotel had just opened in August of 2012.

I checked in and was assigned my room. The hotel looked pretty new but seemed like still a work in progress. It looked like not all the finishings were done yet.

I only stayed two night and was assigned a twin room because that was the only room type they had left. I was totally satisfied with my stay here. The room was spotless and the air-conditioning worked fine. The free wi-fi signal was strong enough that I could connect to the internet in my room. Some people might not like the small window and the fact that it does not open but that’s probably for the better in Bali. The hotel’s location was good too, in a quiet area and not too far from the beach of the clubs in Kuta.

The hotel was good but it does not look as good as it does on the web site pictures. I can recommend the Grandmas Hotel if you are looking for a clean budget hotel in Legian. There is no pool at this hotel but you can always swim in the ocean. When I was there, most of the clientele was local Indonesians.

It looks like the standard rooms are about 30,000 Rp/night now but if you book early enough you may be able to find it for cheaper. A similar hotel I found nearby was the Pop Hotel in Kuta. I think the prices are about the same but the Pop Hotel seemed a bit more popular when I inquired about a room.
