Changi Airport Terminal 2 Staff Canteen.
In my previous post, I wrote about what to do during a layover in Changi airport. One of the options I wrote about was finding the staff canteen and trying the food there. The food in the staff canteen is definitely cheaper than the food in the airport but generally not as tasty as the food you’ll find in the city.
Changi Airport is a major passenger hub in SE Asia serviced by many low cast carriers such as Tiger Airways and Air Asia. If you’ve spent anytime in SE Asia, surely you’ve passed through Singapore or Bangkok. The airport is consistently ranked one of the top airports in the world. I’ve outlined several ways to pass the time in Changi Airport.
- High-end Option: Crowne Plaza Hotel or Changi Village Hotel
- Mid-range Option: Ambassador Transit Hotel
- Budget Option: Sleep or hang out in the airport

I think staying at the Ambassador Transit Hotel in Changi Airport is a great option if you’re arriving late at night and have a flight out the next day. There are locations in Terminal 1, 2 and 3. There are only budget rooms (with shared bathrooms) in Terminals 1 and 2. The Ambassador Transit Hotel is located airside so you must NOT clear immigrants and customs. If you are coming from the budget terminal, you will need to to get your boarding pass to pass through security to get airside.
